Hi AuPairMom readers —
I didn’t think it would be this long between posts — we’ve gone off for a long-awaited family vacation and gotten sidetracked by volcano-related drama. Let it suffice to say that, since we leave for home from Rome, at the end of the week, we expect to slip underneath the ash cloud problems just like we (almost) did on our way out of NYC. Thanks to you all who have been contiuing to share great advice on older posts… here come some new ones! cvh

I hope you and your family make it home safely!
I hope you make it home safely. I’ve got a former AP here visiting who is stuck here at least one extra work. I feel so bad for everyone affected.
I also wonder how this is affecting the Au-pair agencies, as so many au-pairs come from the countries affected.
Hope you make it back safely, CV.
An au pair for our cluster was supposed to arrive for orientation and come to her host family Thursday, but has been delayed, per our LCC.
Same here, we are also having a problem in that my au pair’s family are due to visit at the end of next week and according to local news – these events could go on and on.
Safe home to all out there.
CJ,
I hope you had a great time! – I make a pilgramage to Italy every year to visit a dear friend (after CCAP’s international conference). It’s good you are in Southern Europe where the planes are moving.
Our soon to be 16th au pair, poor thing, due to arrive this week is stuck in Hungary….she was ready to take a train to any airport in Europe, but seats are hard to come by. Hopefully she gets here soon.
I hope your kids enjoyed Italy – can’t wait to take ours there someday.
Deb
Good luck getting home!
