Au Pair Community Resources: Calling all LCCs, Experts and Artists

by cv harquail on January 30, 2011

Several LCCs have emailed to ask if we could include their blogs in the list of LCC blogs on the sidebar. I’d like to be able to list any counselor, consultant, or expert who has something to offer to the AuPairMom community, and I’d like to upgrade this to a fuller and more organized presentation of them.

Here are some invitations:

1. If you are an LCC, counselor, area director, or some other agency representative with a blog or website that you’d like to have listed as a resource, please email me. In your email, include your

    • Name
    • contact info
    • Twitter handle
    • Name of blog
    • URL
    • Photo if you have one
    • Agency Affiliation
    • Location
    • Brief description of your expertise and/or what you have to offer.

I will sort you into geographic regions and create a resources page just for you, with a link from the sidebar.

2. If you are an au pair community professional who does not work for an agency but has his or her own service or business (I’m thinking of services like Karin Six’s rematching site, or Shana Medah’s Jamana Intercultural learning site, or Yossi Pinkas’s TakeCare site).

  • Name
  • Contact info
  • Twitter handle
  • Name of site & service
  • URL
  • Photo if you have one
  • Agency Affiliation if you have one
  • Location
  • Brief description of your expertise and/or what you have to offer.

(If Au Pair Mom develops a business relationship (e.g., an affiliate relationship) with any of these services, I will disclose this in the listing).

3. If you write a host parent blog, momblog, personal blog, or professional blog where you often talk about being a host parent (or au pair) but you aren’t an agency employee, I’ll list you on a different page. For this, send me your

  • Name
  • Contact info
  • Twitter handle
  • Name of site
  • URL
  • Brief description of your host parent/au pair experience
  • Description of your blog, telling us how often you write about au pairs/host parents, and letting us know why it might be fun and/or useful to read your blog (i.e., a little promo)
  • A photo, image, header image, etc.

4. If you are a member of the au pair host parent community and you have a blog, Tumblr, or twitter account where you share inspiring ideas that are not au pair-host parent specific, but are lovely in and of themselves, I’ll list these on an ‘Inspirations” page. (I’m thinking, for example, of Secret Agent, and Anne Marie’s Art Blog).

  • Name
  • Contact info
  • Twitter handle
  • Name of site
  • URL
  • Photo, image or logo
  • Brief description of your site and why we’d like it
  • Please note: Listing any agency employees, contractors, or resources is not an endorsement or recommendation of any person, service or agency by AuPairMom or by me, CV Harquail. Listings are intended as a service to the community. That said, I reserve the right to exclude from the listing any service, site or blog that does not meet our community standards (as explained in the commenting policy and elsewhere.)

Remember, too, that since I work on AuPairMom in batches and in my ‘spare time’, it can take me quite a while to get to things… so don’t take it personally if there’s a lag between your request and your listing.

I’ll do my best to create some useful pages of resources and references among the Au Pair Mom community.

I know there are some LCCs reading this blog…

We just went into rematch tonight, and starting tomorrow don’t have childcare (our former au pair is not going to work for 2 wks, she is leaving our house tomorrow).

We are willing to take a girl from any agency (ours is small), in rematch now, as long as she is trustworthy good girl, reliable, even with very little time left on her year. Need an under-2 qualified and a driver. Our agency is small and we need to maximize our chances of finding a truly good girl ASAP. We live in an area where most agencies are represented.
