Au Pair Appreciation: M., we love you!

International Au Pair Appreciation Week

As shared by a Host Mom

200904302001.jpg Is this a picture of a mom with her kids? No, this is our au pair M. from Brazil with my kids!

Most people in our friendly town where she strolled with kids everywhere have mistaken her for the mommy, and complimented her on "her" children. It was an easy mistake to make. It only made me happy, because I knew M. loved my children like she would her own.

M. became a friend of all the preschool moms of my daughter’s school, and a year later they still ask about her.

In May it will be a year since M. ended her program and went home to Brazil. It was bittersweet, but our hearts became much bigger. They now span two continents, a part is now in South America.

M., we love you!

Thanks for another great story! There is no better feeling than knowing that your AP truly loves your children, and that your children truly love her!

Our AP recently went home for a family wedding, and when she came back, she said that she’d loved being with her family and friends, but missed us the whole time and couldn’t stop telling everyone about “her kids.” I love the fact that she refers to them as “hers” — it’s not in a creepy, hand-that-rocks-the-cradle way at all, it’s because she honestly does love them and feel like they’re her family!
